Acrohordons, also known as skin tags are small benign fleshy growths of epithelium, they can be the same colour as the skin or darker, which hang off the skin. They usually appear with age, or are caused by skin friction, however there can be a hereditary predisposition to forming them. 

The removal of skin tags will aide you in removing any irritation they may be causing such as breaking open, tearing, catching on clothing, etc. which can cause pain and bleeding. 

Skin tags can be found anywhere on the body, however they are most commonly found:

• Eyelids
• Neck
• Under arms
• Under breasts
• Groin area

Diathermy with the use of Thermolysis is a fast and permanent procedure that offers dramatic results as it is a highly effective way to get rid of skin tags. 

A high energy electrical current to produce heat which destroys the lesion. It involves the insertion of a fine sterile probe/needle into the skin tag which cauterizes  and coagulates the blood flow resulting in the skin tag falling away from the skin.

Please stop using self-tanning lotions or sprays 8-10 days prior to your visit. 

The area needs to be cleaned prior to your visit; ensure all makeup is washed off and avoid using long wear or waterproof makeup a few days prior.

No local anaesthesia or pain medication is typically required, however some clients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

Keep It Cool, Keep It Clean, Keep It Out of the Sun!

For the next 24-48 hours after treatment, you must be extra gentle with your skin.

Mild swelling and redness may result which will resolve in a few hours. The superficial sore is left open and allows to heal on its own and form a scab over the next few days. It can take from 7-10 days for the crust/scab to fall off and complete the healing process. At 4-weeks post treatment, it will look its best. 

Smaller skin tags may fall off immediately, however larger skin tags may turn gray, form a crust/scab and fall off after a few days. 

If you can’t keep out of the sun, please use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30.

Pustules and/or crusts are rare but possible. Do not pick at them. To prevent infection we recommend applying Bactroban or Polysporin to the area.
