The latest innovation for hair restoration!
Male and female pattern hair loss is a genetic problem that can leave you feeling helpless. Now there is an affordable way for you to regain your hair density back without surgery or harmful side effects. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for hair restoration involves a simple injection of your own platelets into the vascular layer of your scalp.
Platelets contain healing growth factors. Those growth factors are like signal callers that give instructions to your tissue to regenerate and multiply. This has lead different fields of medicine to utilize PRP for wound healing to speed up recovery time and regrow healthier, stronger tissue. Now doctors have discovered new benefits for hair thickening and regrowth. With PRP for Hair, your growth factors and stem cells work together to reverse the miniaturization of the hair follicle and jumpstarting dormant hair back into the growth stage.
PRP treatments stimulates hair growth through vascularization and angiogenesis, and encourages hair follicles to extend the duration of the anagen phase of the growth cycle.
All hair grows in a cycle that consists of four stages; (1) Anagen Phase - Growing Phase, (2) Catagen Phase - Transition Phase, (3) Telegen Phase - Resting Phase, and (4) Exogen Phase - Shedding Phase. Around 50-85% of hairs are in the Anagen Phase/Growing Phase at one time. However, everyone’s hair grows differently depending on age, weight, metabolism, hormones, hair thickness, medications, ethnicity, etc.
Women lose hair for a variety of reasons, among them environmental factors, such as sun exposure, as well as body metabolism, hormones, and iron and thyroid levels. Female pattern hair loss may occur at any age with varying severity and becomes clinically detectable in about 3% of women by age 29, in 13% of women by 49, 19% by 69, and in 25% of women over 69. Clinical severity and progression tend to be more intense with earlier onset. The first complaints are typically a thinning ponytail, scalp visibility, and a gradual thinning of hair density on the central scalp.
Male patten baldness, Androgenetic alopecia as it’s technically known in medicine, is the most common cause of hair loss in men. Approximately two-thirds of men will experience some level of hair loss by age 35, and by age 50, nearly 90 percent will notice significantly thinning hair.
PRP therapy for hair loss is shown to increase blood supply to the hair follicle, triggering natural hair growth. Growth factors found in PRP include several intracellular structures such as glycogen, lysosomes and alpha granules that promote the healing and repair process. These help to reawaken the activity of the hair follicles and promote new hair growth. The use of PRP is scientifically shown to increase hair count, hair thickness, and the growth phase of the hair cycle.
Growth Factors & Effects:
- Transforming Growth Factor (TGF): Promotes angiogenesis, which is the physiological process involving the synthesis of new blood vessels.
- Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF): An important signalling protein involved in both angiogenesis, promoting the growth of blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature.
- Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF): Promotes angiogenesis, granulation, and epithelialization.
- Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF): Attracts macrophages and fibroblasts to the application site. Promotes collagen growth and proteoglycan synthesis and the formation of the extracellular mix, also known as fibrin mesh.
- Interleukins, Macrophages, Keratinocytes, Endothelial Cells, Lymphocytes, Fibroblasts, Osteoblasts, Basophils, Mast Cells: Activates fibroblast differentiation. Induces collagen and proteoglycan synthesis for healthy cell production and repair of damaged tissues.
- Collagen Stimulating Growth Factor: Stimulates granulocyte and macrophage proliferation for the growth of healthy tissue and blood cells.
- Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF): Keratinocyte migration, differentiation, and proliferations may optimize conditions.
PRP for hair regrowth begins with a standard blood draw from the patient’s arm. The tube of blood is put into a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. Then the plasma, rich in platelets, is removed from the tube and used directly on the client’s scalp at the hair follicles. And because the autologous platelet-rich plasma is produced from a patient’s own blood, there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection.
